Dental, Vision, and Hearing - Additional Coverage Options

While Dental, Vision, and Hearing insurance are not required there are many who could benefit from additional coverage for these services. Even if you already have some coverage through an employer or through a Medicare plan, if your need is greater than what the benefits cover, taking an additional policy for these services could give you added protection and save you money. Additionally if you chose a Medicare Supplement instead of a Medicare Advantage plan you may need to purchase a separate policy to cover these ancillary benefits.

What Does Vision Care Insurance Cover?

Vision care insurance usually covers a percentage of the following basic services:

  • Yearly eye examination
  • Eyeglass lenses
  • Eyeglass frames
  • Contact lenses
  • LASIK and PRK vision correction procedures at a discounted rate

Your specific vision care plan may have a limit, such as annually or every two years on how often it will pay for lenses and frames.

What Does Dental Care Insurance Cover?

Dental care insurance usually covers some basic needs like cleanings and xrays twice a year, and then offers copays or coinsurance for more extensive work like root canals, bridges, extractions and other services.

It is important to review how fast you might need work done as some dental plans will have waiting periods. You would also need to verify that your provider is in network for the plan you choose.

If you're on a Medicare Advantage plan and need specific work done, you are able to add a standalone plan to pick up where that coverage leaves off.

What Does Hearing Care Insurance Cover?

Hearing Care insurance usually covers exams, a portion of your hearing device, fittings, repairs and extra batteries as needed.

Hearing care insurance doesn't cover anything that your primary care provider or a medical doctor would cover.

If you have questions about any of these services or want to know how they can benefit you, please reach out! We are happy to help you determine what your specific needs are.
